From Alaska to Hawaii to Minnesota, Michelle’s journey has taken her across landscapes as diverse as her passions. Now the owner and operator of Junkyard West Fargo, she brings energy, creativity, and a love for community to everything she does. A true outdoors enthusiast, Michelle embraces Minnesota summers to the fullest—whether kayaking, fishing, or enjoying bonfires with family and friends. Cooking and hosting are among her favorite ways to bring people together, making her a natural fit in the social atmosphere of Junkyard West Fargo.
At home, Michelle and her husband, Aaron, stay busy with their 16-year-old daughter, Madeline, and their two German Shorthaired Pointers, Eva and Milo. Whether she’s running a business, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with loved ones, Michelle’s passion for connection and adventure shines through in all she does.
Sipping In Style At The Noble Hare
For a cozy cocktail experience, Michelle recommends The Noble Hare. “The Noble Hare is one of our neighbors that opened shortly after we did. They offer a great atmosphere, an extensive selection of bourbon, and delicious cocktails,” she said. For a more private experience, she loves sneaking into their hidden speakeasy! Whether you’re stopping in for a casual drink or a more intimate evening, The Noble Hare brings craft cocktails and a welcoming ambiance to West Fargo, making it a must-visit for those who appreciate a well-made drink.
Morning Perks At Thunder Coffee
For a morning boost, Michelle heads to Thunder Coffee, located just across from Junkyard West Fargo. “I like to get a coffee at Thunder Coffee in the mornings,” she said. “Located just across from the taproom, the temptation to get their coffee daily is real!” The cozy shop is an inviting space, especially on chilly mornings. “The morning is a great time to go! With their large windows, you can see the sun coming up, making you feel extra warm, especially in the winter.” Her current go-to order? “My favorite at the moment is their banana bread flavoring in an oat milk latte! Yum!”
Sunday Funday With Sandy’s Donuts
Sundays at Junkyard West Fargo come with an extra treat, thanks to Sandy’s Donuts. “A favorite for many! If I had to choose a favorite donut, it would be the chocolate old-fashioned! Honestly, how can you choose just one?” Michelle said. Junkyard makes weekends even sweeter by offering free donuts with any pint purchase starting at noon. “Come into the taproom starting at noon on Sundays and enjoy a free donut when you purchase a pint! That’s a good Sunday!” Whether you’re a die-hard Sandy’s fan or just discovering their legendary donuts, pairing one with a pint is the perfect weekend tradition.
Fresh & Local At Hildebrant Farm
Supporting local businesses is important to Michelle, and Hildebrant Farm is one of her favorite finds. “Located blocks from the taproom, I discovered them last year when looking for some fall pumpkins and hay bales! I was blown away by how much produce and plants they had!” she said. Whether you’re searching for farm-fresh vegetables, beautiful flowers, or seasonal décor, this family-run spot has plenty to offer. “Pro tip—go here for produce this summer!” From pumpkins in the fall to fresh produce all summer long, Hildebrant Farm is a must-visit for seasonal shopping.
West Fest: A Celebration You Can’t Miss
West Fargo’s biggest annual event, West Fest, brings the entire community together. “The community comes out for this! It features one of the largest parades in North Dakota,” Michelle said. “We enjoyed participating in the parade last year! We handed out custom koozies and candy.” If you’re attending, Michelle has a tip: “Come early to secure a prime spot! Enjoy watching the parade from our patio or rooftop patio! Grab drinks from the taproom or our booth out front to enhance your experience! I highly recommend this event!”
