Carter Clinical Counseling was founded in 2019 by Elizabeth Carter. Elizabeth has worked as a part-time therapist on select evenings since 2019 and works full-time as the assistant director for clinical services at the NDSU Counseling Center. Darren joined Carter Clinical Counseling full-time in April 2024 as a co-owner and has several years of experience using therapies that have proven effective in his area of expertise. He operates the majority of the day-to-day business operations. Darren obtained his Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2012), Master of Science in Psychology (2016), and his Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2017) degrees at NDSU. Darren began his career at a local mental health agency and was promoted to clinical supervisor in his department before joining a group practice in 2021 where he worked and specialized in his current area of focus prior to joining Carter Clinical Counseling.

“We know that life can be hard, and it can be difficult to ask for help. We encourage you to think of reaching out for help as a sign of strength and courage. We strive to make Carter Clinical Counseling a welcoming environment for all so that people can feel comfortable and willing to share their personal struggles. We work with clients to achieve their own personal goals and are thankful we can see them feel more like themselves again. When people prioritize their mental health, they begin to experience more enjoyment and fulfillment in their lives. We have made the FM area our home for over 16 years and care greatly about our community. We strive to help our clients overcome obstacles so they can begin living their lives according to their own values and pursuits.”

In addition to office appointments, Darren provides telehealth services to North Dakota and Minnesota residents. Visit Carter Clinical’s website to learn more and consider taking the first step toward bettering your mental health!
