Meet Paul

Age:

60

How long have you been tailgating?

Well over 25 years

What are your earliest memories of tailgating?

It was a lot less organized when I first started. It used to be first come first get in the lot. You would have to get in line early if you wanted a certain spot. There were some long days and overnights to be in the lot where you wanted to. But for the Bison, you did what you had to do.

What makes a perfect tailgate?

A Big Green Egg, and a lot of good friends.

What are some must haves?

Tailgating approved cups, tongs, a lighter, Jim Beam and friends.

Tell me something no one knows about you.

Some people know this, but I met Prince at 1st Avenue on my birthday once. I stopped in that afternoon for a drink to kill time while I was waiting for friends. I ordered a drink and the waitress asked what I was doing. I told her it was my birthday. The next thing I knew, she gave me a bucket with champagne and two glasses and she said the owner would like to have a drink with you on your birthday. Then Prince walked over.

Favorite ND experience or event:

Easy, Bison Football. Also, shows at the Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre.

Do you have any hidden talents?

It’s not that hidden but I have been finding my way to the stage. I have been doing some acting at the Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre.

It has been a blast! I played Santa in Elf. I was in a “Few Good Men”, “9-to 5”. However, get your tickets now, the beard is back! I am Santa or Kris Kringle again in “Miracle on 34th Street – The Musical “ in December with FMCT. So, come on out!
